Certified in Disaster Preparedness, CDP-ISM

The CDP-ISM course carries with it the highest number of continuing (CEU) hours (22 hours) of any other ABCHS course.

There are 2 very specific reasons for this:

  • Every homeland security plan ever written requires key personnel to report for duty. Their ability to report depends heavily on how well-prepared is the family they leave at home.
  • In any scenario, having fewer victims is always a good thing, and this depends heavily on the preparedness training material community leaders have at their disposal.

Who Should Take the CDP-ISM Course:

Persons taking this course should have from 1-5 yrs or more experience and knowledge of emergency preparedness/knowledge.

  • Military Personnel and First Responders who must protect the families they leave at home when they report for duty.
  • Emergency Management officials who need better information with which to train their communities.
  • Faith-Based Organizations who want to cement their position as an integral part of community safety.
  • Civic Groups that are looking for ways to help their members or to offer additional benefits of membership.
  • Schools that would like to teach preparedness as a class.
  • Employers who can offer family emergency readiness education as a "perc" (especially during times when they can't afford raises).
  • Business Continuity Planners who depend on key employees being able to report to work.
  • Individuals and families who realize there's more to preparedness than a "72 hour kit."

How is This Course Different?:

The vast majority of preparedness information available in this country is polarized into the overly-simplistic "72 hour kit" concept or the other extreme, the "outdoor survival" and "living-off-the-land" books. This course utilizes the only textbook ever written to fill the gap between these two extremes by providing realistic emergency readiness information intended to meet our country's unfulfilled preparedness needs with unprecedented detail..
