Inside Homeland Security® began as a newsletter in December 2003. In 2006, the newsletter was first published as a magazine. Over 5,000 copies are published quarterly and distributed to our members, who include experts and leaders in terrorism, counterterrorism, intelligence, military, weapons of mass destruction, critical incident management, law enforcement, first responders, and more. They are also distributed at Barnes & Noble, where they sell out almost immediately, as well as at various other independent newsstands.

Inside Homeland Security® is a quarterly publication of the American Board for Certification in Homeland Security and is the premier source for homeland security articles, information, and interviews from homeland security professionals. Because IHS is dedicated to the illumination of the reader, each issue brings in depth information from homeland security authorities, including articles on current events, continuing education, and certifications.
ABCHS is dedicated to the certification, networking, continuing education, and training of homeland security professionals. The core of our membership is made up of some of the world's leading decision-makers who have significant experience in the homeland security field. A chief petty officer who is a member of CHS had this to say when asked about the effect the organization has had on his professional development, "The Certification in Homeland Security has reinforced my awareness of global terrorism. ... As a member of the military, we are constantly traveling and exposing ourselves to these potential threats, and the CHS program has provided us with an excellent platform to build on."
